How to request a clinic wait

This is for the “wait and return” service: someone collects your family member from home, walks them into the clinic, stays while they are seen, and brings them back inside their front door.

  1. 1Open the clinic wait booking page and add the patient's name, age and how they get around — on their own, with a stick or frame, in a wheelchair, or needing an arm to lean on.
  2. 2Add the home address for pickup and the clinic or hospital they are going to.
  3. 3Pick the appointment date, the pickup time, and how long the companion should wait at the clinic — from one hour up to six.
  4. 4Tick “I would like a woman driver” if that matters to you. It is a priority match, and you are only charged for it when one is actually matched to the trip.
  5. 5Add your own name and phone number, plus anything the companion should know — medication to collect, a gate code, the language your family member speaks.
  6. 6Send the request. You get a reference on screen, and our dispatch team calls or messages you to confirm the companion and the final fare before the trip runs.

After you submit your police clearance

For drivers and care companions: this is what happens between uploading your police clearance certificate and being sent care jobs.

  1. 1Your application, with the police clearance certificate, is saved to your driver record. The document is stored privately — it is not shown to customers or to other drivers.
  2. 2A member of our team opens your clearance and reads it against the name and date of birth on your application. The system will not let anyone mark a care driver as verified before that check is ticked.
  3. 3If the clearance is out of date, unreadable, or does not match your application, we contact you on the phone number you gave us and ask for a fresh copy. Your application stays open in the meantime.
  4. 4Once the clearance checks out, we verify you for Care & Comfort and note the date. That is the switch that makes you eligible: care escort, clinic wait and errand jobs are offered only to drivers who are verified, never to the whole driver list.
  5. 5You appear in the dispatch driver picker with a care mark, so the desk can see you are cleared for this work. Keep your contact details the same as your driver account so the match stays correct.
  6. 6You stay an ordinary driver for everything else — you are not limited to care jobs, and you can stop taking them by telling the desk.

Other common questions

No. Companions give company, mobility help and safe transport — an arm to hold, help with a walking frame or wheelchair, walking you inside, waiting, collecting medication with you. They do not give injections, change dressings, or respond to a medical emergency. If someone is unwell right now, call 913 or go to the nearest emergency service.

Dispatch tells you before the trip runs, and the priority match fee is not charged. You can still go ahead with any available driver, or ask us to hold the booking while we look for a woman driver on duty in your area.

As soon as you know the appointment time. Same-day requests are taken when a companion is free, but a trained companion who is already committed elsewhere cannot be moved, so a day or two ahead is safer for a morning appointment.

Yes. Fill in the clinic wait booking page with your own phone number as the booker, or send the details to us on WhatsApp. We confirm the companion and the fare with you directly, and the patient only needs to be ready at the pickup address at the agreed time.

The booking page shows an estimate built from published rates: the round trip, the care service you chose, on-site waiting at the hourly rate, and the priority match where you asked for it. Dispatch confirms the final fare with you by phone or WhatsApp before the trip, so nothing is charged that you have not agreed to.

Apply on the driver sign-up page, say that you would like Care & Comfort jobs, tick the care skills you actually have, and upload a current police clearance certificate along with your other documents. Nothing is assigned to you on care jobs until our team has read that clearance and verified you.

The small print

  • Care companions provide company, mobility help and safe transport. They are not a substitute for a nurse, doctor or emergency service.
  • On-site waiting time is charged per started hour from the agreed arrival time.
  • A woman driver is matched wherever one is on duty in the area. If none is available, dispatch tells you before the trip and the priority match fee is not charged.
  • Anyone handling a care escort or errand run holds a current police clearance on file with us.
  • Call 913 or your nearest emergency service for a medical emergency — this is a booked transport service, not an ambulance.
